They're here!
Two new tutorials: "Simply Shapes" and "Simply Stringers"
These techniques form
the basis of every bead I make. I think they'll be useful for all
levels of bead makers
For a limited time
you can get both tutorials for a special promotional price. Check out

Metal Enamels: Color
in the Flame
This two day
workshop will focus on enamels on metal using special materials like
metal leaf in new and interesting ways. We will also
spend part of the class learning to use simple metal working tools and
easy methods to create jewelry. No enamel or metalwork experience
required for this fun class!
Silver Effects Class
This is a two
day workshop in which Holly will share her unique surface techniques
involving different forms of silver and applied stringer. These forms
include silver leaf,
foil, powder, and Double Helix silver glass. As we explore these
techniques we will see
how silver and hot glass transform one another in multiple ways.
This class is designed to open up new ways of using these special
materials to add
patina and depth to the surface of glass beads. In this class you will
be able to see
inside Holly's creative process as she explains her method of
exploration of these
various forms of silver.
Special
Materials: Silver Leaf, Silver Foil, Silver Powder, Silver Glass, and
Frit

Powder Play
This is a two
day intermediate class
As bead makers we are
always looking for new ways to use materials to lend a uniqueness to
our work. In this class we will explore glass powders in new and
interesting ways. Enamels and powdered frits will be our paints,
interesting methods of application will be our brush, glass beads, our
canvas. We will examine and explore color interaction: how colors
enhance one another, choosing a color palette and how color creates
luminosity and visual depth.

Fantasy Flora and
Fauna
Here is a
chance to be inspired to create your own stylized and patterned
creatures
and floral forms using Holly's special modular approach. Step by step
you will learn how to
build a complex pattern using basic stringer techniques. In this two
day class we'll
stretch our imagination and explore new design territory. Holly will
guide you to push
the limits of stringers and dots to create your own magical animals and
plants.
We will use basic colors and bead shapes to better concentrate on the
stringer designs.
(prerequisite- some stringer experience. Intermediate/advanced)

Design and Detail:
Stringer Control and Modular Design Principals
This is an
intermediate foundation class on stringer and design
This is an
intermediate class focusing on stringer control and design.
In the class we will
concentrate on using stringers to create intricate detailed patterns
on glass beads while
in the flame. We'll also discuss methods that aid in promoting
individuality in our
work by taking technique and design beyond our usual boundaries
and towards a more
personal style.
Part of the session
I'll be showing how I manipulate fine stringers using simple tools
and techniques as
well as discuss the properties of glass as it relates to the making of
stringers that hold a
highly detailed pattern.
I will also
demonstrate and discuss surface design elements such as:
rhythmic pattern,
negative and positive space, color, scale and proportion, texture,
bead shape and its
relationship to the design and modular pattern development.
I use modular
development in many of my beads as a means of creating a complex design
within a simple
framework. I will demonstrate step-by-step how I achieve this in my
beads.

Rare Chemistry I and
II
This is an
intermediate class on surface techniques.
The ability to
make and use stringer is a prerequisite of the class

Rare Chemistry II
Special Materials:
Copper Leaf, and Copper Powder
In this one day
workshop we will explore the use of various forms of
copper as a surface design element with powdered enamel as a base.
Using glass
stringers, copper leaf and powders we will create patterned
surfaces rich in depth and layered interest. These combined
techniques
will utilize the interplay of various materials to enrich the surface
of your work.
........................................................................
Simply Stringer
This is a one day
workshop on stringer technique. Holly will demonstrate,
step by step, how to apply the stringer to the beads. We will focus on
straight lines, scrolls and raking. Demos will alternate with practice
time.
We will be using standard soft glass colors and making simple bead
shapes. This is a great class for learning some simple stringer basics
or
honing your stringer skills.
